Be it a curvy daybed or woven bench, Heide Martin Design Studio injects each of their Shaker-Inspired Furnishings with a distinctive flair.
An enticing peek at Heide’s Juliette Daybed in walnut with COM dove velvet upholstery.

Heide Martin has Maine down to a science. To clarify, we’re not talking about traits and topography; we’re talking about the vibe. The salt-of-the-earth and come-as-you-are aura that makes visitors want to pull up a chair and stay for a while. Which is convenient, considering Heide Martin makes chairs. And tables, cabinets, and sideboards, too. In fact, Heide’s portfolio and eponymous Rockland studio, Heide Martin Design Studio, is stacked with no-fuss furniture crafted in collaboration with her partner, Patrick Coughlin. Simple silhouettes fabricated with organic materials—like native hardwoods and leather—harken back to the Shakers’ practical, heritage style and elevate each piece, making them instant heirlooms.

Heirloom pieces, like the Eileen Sideboard in oiled cherry, look at home in any room.

In the vein of this issue’s Stylish Getaways theme: whether it be a weather-beaten beach house, woodsy A-frame, or sleek city loft, any one of the studio’s chameleon pieces are sure to look right at home.

The cherry on top? Heide and Patrick are open to custom orders, should you be looking to furnish a stylish getaway of your own per your particular taste. And, for those curious about learning the craft, the pair share a passion for teaching, so keep your eyes peeled for word of upcoming residencies and workshops. We sure will.
