Deus No Machina

Christina M. Vincent
Words By Anna Mangum

Christina Vincent is the maker behind Northshore, a one-woman operation where every single piece of furniture is made by hand. And yes, that includes her intricate inlayswithout a CNC machine in sight. Her work is made to last a lifetime and then some. Every step of her process has intention behind it, even down to the choice of wood. She enjoys making furniture that has a bit of intrigue and secrecy behind it: You can’t just look at it and understand how it was made. Her pieces will leave you guessing, and wanting more.

Christina’s birch piece titled Flora is accented with ornate vines and a continuous live edge. It honors Maine’s native species and the challenges they face from climate change.
