At the young age of 21, hotelier Raymond Brunyanszki found himself traveling around SoutheastAsia, a journey that sparked his future career trajectory. His thrilling experience of navigating new cultures led to a career consulting and advising Ritz-Carlton and JW Marriott in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, as well as high-end properties throughout Southeast Asia, like the Mandarin Oriental in Bangkok. While on vacation in Maine in 2003, he discovered a love of New England’s crisp fall weather, bountiful forests and mountains, and its prime access to the ocean. Three years later, Raymond and co-owner Oscar Verest opened the Camden Harbour Inn, marked by excellence that paved the way for higher quality hospitality in Maine to come. This Victorian building is imbued with romance from its sweeping porches to its meticulous grounds, not to mention its dreamy ocean vistas.

The artwork is an important part of the decor in both the villa and the main hotel.
The villa is a great spot for hosting, with a scenic patio able to accommodate many guests.
A staircase leading to the upper floors of the villa, which includes a private gym.

A Relais & Chateaux property, the attention to detail at the Camden Harbour Inn is what you might expect to find at a luxurious boutique hotel on the coast of Italy. Despite its European excellence, Raymond and his team work hard to make sure your stay feels distinctly Maine with experiences such as their private lobster tour, after which a chef will teach you how to prepare the coastal delicacy. “We also have lobster Benedict for breakfast,” Raymond adds, “and a Maine lobster tasting menu in the evening. You can eat lobster for every meal!”

The proximity to the harbor provides impeccable vistas from the grounds.

Camden is a gorgeous area to explore on foot, schooner, car, or bike, with endless excursions to downtown’s bevy of shops and nearby Rockland’s booming arts scene. For those who seek a slower-paced stay, it’s easy to find ways to decompress at the inn, with their amenities such as Molton Brown spa products, Maine-based Cuddledown feather beds, high-count Egyptian white linen, and a world-class fine dining restaurant, Natalie’s.

A private sauna included in select rooms in the main hotel is the perfect place to unwind year-round.

Some accommodations even have a private sauna and steam room. Since the inn is open year-round, a stay where you don’t need to leave the room to enjoy a sauna feels like a welcome blessing come midwinter. For those who prefer a more private and roomy stay, the standalone villa can accommodate up to six guests. Raymond and his team’s attentiveness and the inn’s endless amenities will satisfy any need that may arise during your stay.
