Abigail Shea’s Must-Haves

The interior designer and founder of newly rebranded Studio Eastman shares fabulous decor finds that help her live beautifully in Maine

As a designer, I spend all of my time thinking about the ways I can add little moments of beauty to my clients’ lives. My firm, Studio Eastman (find them on studioeastman.com), incorporates these small, beautiful rituals into our design practices from the beginning. When we’re drawing your kitchen, we’re thinking about the mugs you’ll sip your coffee from when it’s complete. In my opinion, these pretty little daily moments are what make good design truly excellent.

Common Scents

The right smell to complement a beautiful space is important, and I always have at least three Alder & Loam candles hidden around my place. Try “Oakmoss” — the scent is so subtle, earthy, and different.

The Daily Grind

Studio Eastman is powered by good espresso. We’ve been using PT’s “Ad Astra” signature blend, and I truly think about my morning cup when I’m going to bed.

Wood Fired Pottery

Food tastes better from pretty dishes, right? One of my favorite local artists is Brian Buckland—his mugs are my go-to every morning, and we’re lucky enough to have one of his beautiful vases. Check out his gorgeous green glaze!

Functional Beauty

I’m on construction sites a lot these days. Most days, I throw on my Red Wing moc toe boots (cream colored, duh!) and always feel chic and comfortable.

Luxurious Linen

In the summer, I switch our duvet cover to a linen coverlet. The In Bed heavy linen bed covers are the perfect weight for warmer nights. Plus, the way the extra length drapes on the floor istrés chic!

A Glass of Joy

There’s little I love more than a glass or two of a good red. Dulan Wine makes a beautiful Zinfandel you’ve just got to try!

Elegant Throws

I love a cozy, Nordic-style sheepskin throw, but I’m extremely particular about ethically sourced hides. Chilton Furniture sources its beautiful throws from a local farm, and the quality is unmatched. I’m embarrassed to admit I have six!
